Kalamba News Round Up #27

Feb 9, 2022

January can be a real mixed bag – it’s renowned as one of the longest months of the year and it even boasts the dubious honour of hosting the most depressing day of the year (January 18th for those of the happier persuasion who may not be aware!). We Kalambians, however, don‘t let the grass grow under us and we’ve thrown ourselves into the opportunities of the opening month of 2022 with our trademark gusto. Welcome to our first round-up of the year!

Our very own Alex Cohen kicked things off as he caught up with SBC’s Gambling TV to discuss the importance of Kalamba’s MGA licence and our exciting plans for 2022.

He explained the importance of the licence award and how it provides us with an avenue to serve various European markets with our product and technology – granting enhanced agility.

Check the video out here and listen to Alex provide deeper insight into how Kalamba uses data-driven initiatives such as StarGazer and how other improvements on the year’s roadmap promise an eventful 2022.

Given that we’re looking at a busy next few months, we’ve also taken the opportunity to hire some new talent. We’ve welcomed another new Account Manager, Agnieszka Fryc. Aga joins us from her previous role of European Account Team Leader at bet365 and we’re really excited to have her on board.

Aga and the rest of the team will be in the envious position of having our latest game at their disposal too – Holmes: Reel Detective, which went live in January.

Speaking of conundrums, we didn’t need London’s most famous sleuth to get our head around the current situation regarding RTP. Some jurisdictions have added gambling taxes which have resulted in thinner margins for operators. To counter this, operators can decide to adjust their RTP values.

This can be done globally or on a per market basis – but there are of course significant implications for suppliers. Historically, this would have been very difficult for a supplier such as Kalamba to accommodate, but the good news is that our Bullseye Remote Gaming Server allows for us to cater per market, per game – whatever suppliers need. Read more in our examination of the solution here.

That’s all for the news this month. See you all in the next one!
